Three notorious rain arresters from Bumali Sub County in Namisindwa district narrowly survived being lynched by angry residents after they picked money from them to stop rain but it fell.

The trio is Peter Makhala, Defasi Kuloba and Moses Watata all residents of Nasambi parish in Bumali sub county.

According to Patrick Songo, the LCIII chairperson of Bumali Sub County, it all started with residents anxious to have maintenance works on Tsekululu to Bumali road go uninterrupted, mobilized Shs400,000 for the trio today, 5th November, 2024.

The three renowned for arresting/stopping rain were however unlucky as rain pounded the area shortly after they received the money disorganizing all works where a tractor had to stop.

That is when bitter locals attacked the three but were saved by the LCIII who took them to the nearby Police post of Tsekululu where they are currently being detained.

Edward Shuwu and Sam Wetanya, all residents of Bumali Sub County say that these men have been taking this as a business whereby they demand money from people to either stop or make the rain fall.

They say that this time, the three might have failed to share the money equally and that is why it rained shortly after receiving the cash.

Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner confirmed the incident saying the three are currently being detained at Tsekululu police post.

She cautioned locals against holding laws in their hands urging them to always seek police to solve their matters.
