Ugandans are still reeling from the shocking revelations that emerged following the DNA tests conducted on the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya’s alleged children.
According to his former aide, Lusswa Luwemba, only four out of the nine children who were presented after Ssegirinya’s death were confirmed to be his biological offspring. Speaking to the media, Luwemba confirmed that the DNA results matched only four children — Nagirinya Aaliyah, Sharifah Nagirinya, Shifrah Nagirinya, and Ivan. Ivan was identified as the only boy among the confirmed biological children.
The results have left many in disbelief, especially following claims from different women who presented themselves as widows of the late legislator, each bringing forward children they claimed were his. Among those affected is Twahirah Akandinda, one of the women widely known as Ssegirinya’s widow, who had expressed interest in contesting in the upcoming by-election. Unfortunately for her, DNA tests revealed that the child she presented was not fathered by the late MP.
These revelations have sparked conversations across the country, with many questioning the integrity of some of the individuals who came forward with claims. The results have also thrown a shadow over the family affairs of the late Ssegirinya, who passed away under controversial circumstances after battling illness, worsened by his time in detention.
As the dust settles, Ugandans are watching to see how this will impact the by-election and the family’s next steps.
