Police in Kawempe Division are investigating a case of aggravated robbery after a woman was attacked in her home by men armed with knives during the early hours of 13 June 2025.The incident took place around 1:00am in Kisenyi Zone. The victim, Nampera Christine, told police that unknown men broke into her house while she was asleep and robbed her at knifepoint. The attackers stole a 32-inch flat screen TV, a Samsung A4 phone, and UGX 500,000 in cash.

Officers from Kakungulu Police Post responded quickly and arrived at the scene with a sniffer dog named Boela. The dog picked up a scent and led police to a nearby room, where they found a man, Ssekandi Jonathan, asleep. While police were questioning Ssekandi, another man, identified as Ssulasako Mayor, who was reportedly outside the building at the time, ran away after noticing the police.

A search of the room where Ssekandi was found led to the recovery of items believed to have been used in the robbery. These included a knife with a black cover, a pair of scissors, a hammer, and several bundles of suspected narcotic substances wrapped in blue plastic.

Ssekandi was arrested on the spot and remains in custody as investigations continue. Police say they are working to find and arrest the second suspect who is still on the run.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, praised the officers and the canine unit for their fast response. He also encouraged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behaviour to help keep communities safe.
