President Traoré Sheds Tears After Spotting His Old School Friend Begging on the Street – What He Did Next Shocked Everyone

A deeply emotional scene unfolded on the streets of Ouagadougou yesterday when Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré unexpectedly came face to face with a piece of his past—an old schoolmate begging for food and money on the roadside.

The encounter, which has since gone viral on social media, occurred as President Traoré’s motorcade slowed at a traffic light in a crowded part of the capital. Eyewitnesses say the president’s gaze froze on a disheveled man sitting under a tree with a handwritten sign that read, “Hungry. Please help.”

Moments later, Traoré reportedly ordered the motorcade to stop and personally got out of the vehicle—something extremely rare for a head of state. What followed left even his security detail stunned.

“He walked straight to the man, knelt beside him, and then broke down in tears,” recounted a street vendor nearby. “It was like he saw a ghost from the past.”

It soon emerged that the man, identified as Souleymane Kabore, had been Traoré’s classmate during their early years at a public school in Koudougou. According to local sources, the two had shared schoolbooks, food, and dreams of a better future.

Kabore’s life had taken a tragic turn due to a mix of family loss, unemployment, and health struggles, eventually forcing him onto the streets. President Traoré, visibly shaken, embraced him publicly and then did the unimaginable—he offered to take his old friend into his official residence.

According to a statement released later by the presidential press office, Kabore is now under full medical care and will receive housing, counseling, and a job in a government-backed community support initiative.

“This is not charity,” President Traoré reportedly said to his aides. “This is brotherhood. I owe him this, and more.”

The story has ignited emotional reactions across the nation, with many praising Traoré for his humility and humanity. Social media in Burkina Faso and beyond is flooded with messages of admiration, calling the moment “a reminder that true leadership is rooted in compassion.”

As the country continues to navigate political challenges, this moment of personal connection has struck a powerful chord, reminding citizens that even the most powerful leaders carry memories—and loyalties—that shape their hearts.
