Police in Bukedea Central Police Station in Bukedea District have arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Abadiya Enau, a resident of Soroti City for allegedly raping a 4 year old girl.
Enau was arrested on Monday, 28th October, 2024 in Kide Cell in Bukedea Town Council in Bukedea District after police firing live bullets and teargas to disperse angry residents.
Betty Choma, the mother to the girl, said that they were busy sorting rice Industrial Area while their kids were playing, but they were shocked to hear the girl crying in an uncompleted building.
“We reached inside the building only to find that Enau was on top of the girl and the girl was crying, we made an alarm and he took off to the side of Mandela Guest house,” said Choma.
According to sources, Enau came to Bukedea as a builder.
Juma Akol, the Kide ward parish intelligence officer (PIO) confirmed his arrest saying police were notified as an angry mob was busy chasing for Enau.
“Police had to fire live bullets in order to rescue Enau from angry residents and he was picked from the ceiling of the house”, said Akol.
Richard Asiimwe, DPC Bukedea, this afternoon 29th, Oct 2024 Tuesday said the suspect is in the police cells.
“We have this person in our cells and the victim was subjected to medical checkup and we are waiting for a medical report”, said DPC Asiimwe.
