On February 28, 2025, a gang of seven masked men launched a series of violent robberies in Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. Armed with pangas, an axe, and other metal tools, the gang left residents shaken and stole valuable items.
The first attack occurred at around 1:46 AM at the home of Reverend Samuel Kyakulagira. The gang broke in, assaulted the occupants, and ransacked the house, taking mobile phones, a flat-screen TV, household electronics, and cash. They also stole Reverend Kyakulagira’s black Toyota Gaia vehicle (registration number UAT 319/U).
At approximately 3:30 AM, the gang used the stolen vehicle to carry out a second robbery near Ssanga Police Post.This time, their victims included a police officer from Oyam, who had money and three mobile phones stolen. The gang also targeted the home of a Senior UPDF officer, taking a TV, two mobile phones, and an HP laptop.
Local police teams from Buwambo and Ssanga arrived to collect statements from the victims and witnesses. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, urged the public to remain alert and work with law enforcement to capture the suspects.
He expressed concern about the rising trend of organized crime in the area and stressed the importance of community cooperation in tackling such incidents.
