Police in Naggalama, Mukono District, have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of murdering a 90-year-old woman in Magonga Village, Kiwafu Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county.The suspect, identified as Henry Onyango, a peasant and resident of the same village, is alleged to have killed Negesa Christine, a 90-year-old elder, on September 20, 2025, at around 9:00 am.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the suspect was seen leaving the deceased’s house shortly before relatives discovered her lying in a pool of blood with deep head wounds.
“Police responded to the scene, recorded statements from first responders, and took the suspect back for a reconstruction exercise,” Onyango said.
During the exercise, detectives recovered a panga suspected to have been used in the crime and a shoe believed to belong to the suspect, which he reportedly dropped while fleeing. Onyango further led police to a nearby well where he admitted washing the weapon after the attack.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and police say investigations are ongoing to establish whether the suspect acted alone or with accomplices.Negesa’s body was taken to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
