SAD: Gang Rape, Murder 40 Year Old Woman in Jinja

A woman about 4o years old has been murdered having been gang raped.

Caroline Nziiro, a Hair Dresser and resident of Mpumudde in Jinja City was killed between the night of January 27 and January 28 at Mailo Mbili, in Jinja City.

Consequently, the Kiira Regional Police Command has commenced a prosecution-guided investigation into the sexual assault and murder of Caroline Nziiro.

Her lifeless body, believed to be that of a woman in her late 30s, was found in a trench around Mailo Mbili in Jinja City by residents who immediately alerted the police.

An experienced team of homicide detectives, along with other technical staff, visited the crime scene, recorded relevant statements from eyewitnesses, retrieved exhibits, and examined the body. No visible signs of bruising were observed.

According to SP James Mubi, the Kiira Regional Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that Caroline was repeatedly sexually assaulted and murdered.

He has appealed to the public to provide any crucial information that could help identify the suspect(s), assuring that all tips will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Kiira Regional Police Command, led by SSP Charles Nsaba, has pledged to continue the search for the suspect(s) and will not rest until they are apprehended. Justice, he says, must prevail for the grieving family, friends, and residents of Jinja City.

According to the residents Namweba Lillian, and Suzan Namasaba, the deceased has died when she is pregnant and has left 5 children.

It is important to note that last year, violent crimes against women and children saw a significant reduction due to sustained joint community awareness campaigns.

These efforts focused on instilling good societal values and promoting responsible parenthood at the family level, which remains the core unit of administration.

The joint efforts continue to have a positive impact on society, and such campaigns will continue in schools, markets, churches, mosques, and beyond. There are plans to intensify social media awareness and strategic communication efforts, recognizing that this requires shared responsibility across the community.
