The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has halted all ongoing development in the Bugolobi-Namuwongo wetlands to address the critical concerns raised by environmental advocates and local communities.

The order addressed to Majestic Commodities Ltd dated 7th November, 2024 halts all construction works on plots 1-5 Mpanga Drive and 67, 69, 71, 73-81 Mpanga Close.

KCCA says Majestic Commodities Ltd is not complying with Environment and Drainage conditions.

National Vice Chairman NRM Eastern, Capt. Mike Mukula has been very vocal against the construction being a resident and chairman of Bugolobi Landlords.

On November, 5th 2024, Mukula warned X, “Majestic commodities ltd who have defied all odds and have decided to backfill the wetlands of bugolobi and Namuwongo ecosystem into lake Victoria will now face massive demonstrations in due course>no trucks will enter this wetlands >UGANDA IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW THIS.”

Mukula on the same day threatened a massive mobilization of residents to stop the degradation of the wetland saying, ”We are going to mobilize thousands and thousands of people to stop this madness……watch this space….Those who doubt capacity will face the wrath of the masses.”

KCCA seems to have heeded to the NRM Honcho’s threats and acted ASAP.
