A 15-year-old student of Kyemamba Seed Secondary School in Lyantonde District has been found dead under unclear circumstances, sending shockwaves through the Masaka West region. The deceased has been identified as Nankinga Meble, and police have launched a manhunt for the main suspect, only identified as Isaac.

According to Greater Masaka Police spokesperson Kasirye Twaaha, the teenager allegedly sneaked out of her parents’ home on the night of September 1, 2025, to meet Isaac at Kyemamba Trading Centre. She is believed to have spent the night at his rented house.

The following morning, her parents became worried when she failed to return home. Their search led them to Isaac’s residence at around 10:00 a.m., where they were devastated to find their daughter lying lifeless on the bed. Police were immediately alerted.

Detectives who visited the scene later transferred the body to Lyantonde Hospital for a postmortem to establish the actual cause of death.

Meanwhile, Isaac is on the run, and security agencies have intensified efforts to track him down. Police have urged community members to share any information that could aid in his arrest.

The incident has reignited concerns about the safety of school-going children and the need for parental vigilance. Local leaders are calling for stronger community policing and early guidance to protect young girls from such tragic outcomes.
